Currently reading... Cruxim by Karin Cox

I am super excited to start this book to review for the author!! Looks good! Check back later for my review!

Amedeo is Cruxim—a rare, winged supernatural creature who knows neither his purpose nor his past, save but to feed on the vampires that plague the earth. When his one weakness, the girl and novice nun Joslyn, is taken and turned by his enemies, Amedeo vows never to rest until vampires are expunged from his world, even if that means killing Joslyn. But can he?

On his quest, he meets Sabine: a guardian. Half-woman, half-lioness, she is a Sphinx who has been protecting humans from vampires since the dawn of time. But when she fails in her task of protecting a young boy, she is relentlessly pursued by her evil employer, Dr. Claus Gandler, a scientist collecting a sideshow of freaks, and both she and Amedeo are captured and cruelly paraded in Gandler's Circus of Curiosities.

When the stakes are eternity in a cage, what will Amedeo sacrifice to save one or both of the women he loves?

This gothic paranormal novel explores the beast within amid a setting of mythology and forbidden love. Cruxim's dark world and conflicted characters are the antithesis of the sparkly vampire genre.

Book Review- Sins and Needles by Karina Halle

I love sucking my friends into writing reviews... it just takes one bite and then you're hooked!!! My friend Krystal Collins read Sins and Needles and graciously wrote a review for all of you book addicts! Enjoy!!

Who is frustrated that I have to wait until the summer for the sequel of Sins and Needles...yeah, this chic! I loved it, but I'll be the first to admit that I was on the fence.

The character build up was slow, although it was definitely needed and was uniquely put together.  Ellie or Ella or whatever her character likes to be called, is a deadly time bomb ready to detonate at any second. I'm clutching my purse a little tighter because this "I need love" con artist is a genius!

Oooooooh and Camden (say his name slowly to make the feeling linger a little longer)...my gift of creating vivid mental images are so in my favor right now...yummilicious.  As delicious as my brain makes him, my feelings for him were all over the map.  I was sad for him, scared of him and falling for him all in one setting.  He is the perfect combination of love and war!

Without spoiling the story, the climax (think beyond story elements friends) had me hooked and I could not put it down.  It is a definite read, however, the sequel is not due to be released until the summer...YEAH. NOT. HAPPY.

I give the story a strong 4 stars, but while reminiscing on some of the s-t-e-a-m-y moments, I'm squealing 4 1/2 stars!

Book Review- Avra's God by Ann Lee Miller

Ann Lee Miller does it again!!! 5 stars for Avra's God!! Avra's God is such an uplifting, inspiring story about college aged students who love and serve God. I love everything about this book! It has devotion, romance, turmoil, skepticism, and happy endings! I love how descriptive Ann Lee Miller is with her writing when describing scenes. I feel like I am right there with the characters sucked into their world and emotions. I fell into every emotional scene in this book because of descriptions like this one...

"Kallie tilted her head toward him, looking at him for the first time since the song ended. He took a deep breath and leaned toward her. Kallie’s eyes widened. His fingers tightened on hers. Her lips were soft, motionless under his. He pulled away and grinned, tasting triumph and strawberry. Behind her the ducks splashed through a clumsy takeoff"

Avra is the constant, the rock, the level headed in her group of friends. At least that is how they see her. In reality Avra second guesses every decision she makes and is constantly seeking reassurance from God. I love how strong Avra is even when she wants to so badly fall prey to life's curve balls that are thrown her way. Then there is Cisco... Oh Cisco... Heads turn everywhere he goes. He is charismatic, funny, good looking, athletic.. And did I mention he is in a band. A drummer at that!! That is another thing I love about this story. It has a rock band with "good boys." Of course the good boys aren't always good... They have their own demons they are working through. Cisco is no exception. He is the personification of life of the party. Outsiders see him as always playing around, laughing, and seems to  excudes confidence... But inside he is a insecure boy who doesn't think he is good enough for anyone. All of these issues stem from his home life and his parents divorce.

"No, Avra was class—and she didn’t have a clue. What would it be like to kiss class like that? It had to be different from the girls he usually made out with. He wasn’t stupid. He went after those girls because they dished a whole lot more than kisses."

A love story about college kids and rock band mates wouldn't be the same without best friends. Lead singer and preacher's kid Jesse is the true skeptic if the group. He feels like he cannot enjoy his life, play rock and roll,  and live the rock god lifestyle if God is in charge of his destiny. His dad has high hopes of him taking after his old man and leading the church one day. Jesse, however has different plans that take him down a different road than his dad planned. Then along comes Kallie. Kallie is every boys' dream but is cold as ice on the inside. So much so she is known as the ice queen and a song is written about her iciness. Behind every bitter female is a story, and Kallie has one of her own.  Jesse and Kallie have a love/hate relationship for most part of the book. Will they end up as friends, enemies, or lovers??? That was the question I pondered majority of the story!

Life happens, twists and turns pull the young lovers apart and tough decisions must be made. Avra's God has it all!! The characters go from being devoted to each other regardless of what type of relationship they have, being devoted to God, questioning everything from each other to their faith, and a little in between! Readers will fall in love with these characters and will find themselves connecting to one or more of them from time to time in the book. Ann Lee Miller did a spectacular job of capturing that questioning nature that young adults have and touched right down to my heart!

“Like your God would care about someone like me. He’d whoop my tail like my old man did.”

I love how the author writes a book centered around faith without making it sound higher than thou or preachy. What a way to reach out to a large audience of believers and possibly non-believers! Great job Ann Lee Miller!! Keep these inspiring stories coming ... PLEASE!!!

Currently reading... Avra's God by Ann Lee Miller!!

I am just starting Avra's God by Ann Lee Miller. I read Kicking Eternity by this author and loved it, so I have high hopes!! Check back soon for my review!

In the tradition of The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, four friends navigate college and the drama churned up by their Florida beach band to cement friendship and more.

Avra wants love, but drummer Cisco—self-medicating from his parents’ divorce with sex and intoxicants—is a poor choice. Cisco hungers for fresh-baked cookies and the scent of family he finds at Avra’s.

Kallie shares her classically trained singing voice only with lead vocalist Jesse and fights to keep her heart safe. Jesse feeds on fame and hides more than insecurity beneath his guitar.

The friends surf ego, betrayal, and ambition and head for wipe-out. But somehow, when they’re not looking, Avra’s God changes them all.

Book Review- Playing Along by Rory Samantha Green

Wow!!! As I type this review I am feeling like my belief in love at first sight has been restored! Playing Along by Rory Samantha Green is a very refreshing take on the rock star boyfriends stories that are hitting shelves everywhere! I give this book 4 stars easily and recommend anyone who loves romance, love at first sight, and happy endings definitely put this book on their to be read list!!

Playing Along is the story of George, lead singer of Britain's top rock band Thesis, and Lexi a former high school prom queen whose life has taken unexpected twists and turns. George is a rock star, but he has retained his down to Earth, boy next door, straight laced attitude, and has not let fame take him down the path of sex, drugs, and rock and roll. I fell in love with George instantly. He grew up in a family that didn't appreciate his "beat to his own drum" personality and he was treated as the "other" child.

"George has been unpacking heartache from his sensitive soul since the age of ten."

This quote broke my heart, I could easily imagine a young George having his dreams crushed by those that meant the most to him... His family. His sister, Polly, made me want to jump in the book and punch her in the face! She was a self centered brat, even as an adult, that wanted all eyes on her and she didn't care how she got said attention.

Then we have Lexi. Lexi was prom queen, ring leader of the popular girls in high school, apple of her parents' eyes, and was envied by everyone. She had a good looking, athletic boyfriend who was her equal in being envied. Every girl wanted to be her, and every boy wanted to be with her. Her life changed when she learned her "perfect"high school boyfriend was gay and she just may have tapped out at 17.  As a young girl she was taught to rely on her looks and the support of a good man.

"Her parents only introduced her when she was young as “our beautiful Lexi,” and she came to rely on the label, like it was part of her name,"

This love story sucked me in from the very beginning! I love how the author took the time to allow readers to connect with each character before jumping into the relationship of them. By the time George and Lexi ever crossed paths in the book, I was already committed to the story and was rooting for both of them to get a happy ending... Even if it wasn't with each other. I found myself sitting on the edge of my seat wondering, when the heck will these two ever meet and see the fireworks. They had several chance encounters before I got my wish.

"A woman runs towards him halfway down a residential street. His heart is beating in time to the song. As they pass each other, they both look up, and even though her face is in his eye line for the briefest second, he could swear he sees tears in her eyes."

Of course, life has a funny way of intervening in dreams and plans. George and Lexi's lives absolutely had a way of postponing my dreams of their first kiss. After that running encounter, it took several twists and turns before they ever even met! They eventually had another encounter at one of his concerts..

"He’s singing “A Suitable Dawn” and he’s looking directly at her. Or at least she feels like he’s looking directly at her. She holds his gaze for a number of seconds, feeling, bizarrely, like she is the only person in the room."

It became increasingly obvious that George and Lexi were meant to be and it would be fireworks when and if it ever happened. I for one was patiently waiting... Well not really patiently... For their first kiss! Of course, I was teased a few times into thinking it would finally happen. Their first meeting, was just that... a meeting!!

"He’s watching her lips as they meet the edge of the glass and imagining the faint imprint they will leave behind. It doesn’t really matter anymore what she is saying, he is way past needing to be convinced"
When George and Lexi let destiny take the drivers seat it was exactly how I thought it would be!! I found myself so deeply rooted into the lives of these characters and could not put this book down until I read it all!! I could continue on and let all of the secrets and spoilers out, but I want other readers to be in as much suspense over wondering if George and Lexi ever take the plunge as much as I was. A MUST read for romance lovers and those who need a break from the bad boy rock stars, but still want a smidgen of bad boy there. ;))

Book Review- Hollywood Twins by Amanda White

Hollywood Twins by Amanda White is a short novella based on the lives of identical twin sisters, Rachel and Hanna. They are as opposite as opposites can be. Hanna is the outgoing, party girl who is a club DJ and Rachel is a shy, reserved part time bartender/ baker. I thought that Amanda White did a great job at setting the stage for upcoming story lines. Hollywood Twins is a super quick read, and basically gives you a starting point on the sisters relationship with each other. I love how the twins were so different... It makes it easier for different personalities of readers' to relate to them.

I would love to read an entire book on the sisters and their adventures instead of novellas,  but I think it is an awesome way for the author to start her career as a writer. The overall feel of the book was happy. Boy meets girl, boy and girl connect, boy makes girl angry, boy makes it up to girl, and they ride off into the sunset happily ever after on his Harley of course! I for one love happy endings, but a longer book with a little more groveling in the boy makes it up to girl part would be nice too. ;))

I would give this novella 4 stars overall and can't wait to follow Amanda White's career and see where she goes as an author! You should definitely check out Hollywood Twins... Quick read that will make you smile!

The Hills Party is the exciting first installment in the new novella series "The Hollywood Twins" by contemporary romance author Amanda White.

Rachel and Hanna are identical twins, just out of college living the high life in Hollywood, California. Having the same stunningly beautiful appearance is as far as it goes when it comes to being identical. Their personality couldn't be further apart. Hanna is the fun-loving, outspoken "in your face" sister, working as a hip DJ, entertaining the Hollywood club crowd, while Rachel is more reserved, but has enough maturity to take care of both of them.

Being low on cash, Rachel and Hanna agree to entertain as DJ and bartender at a private party in Hollywood Hills. While working at the party, the shy Rachel meets the good looking young actor, Kyle Marwick. He takes a shine to the reserved twin, but she quickly finds that dating an upcoming moviestar is not without problems. Will love prevail or could jealousy divide the couple?

I LOVE finding new authors!!!

I LOVE finding new authors!! I love reading any genre of books, but I truly love my Indie authors!! I found an amazing, new, indie author that is working on her first book! It is still a work in progress, and I can't wait until it is ready for a review!! I had to share my excitement and gear you guys up for a new read!! Check out C. M.  Martin's first chapter of Unexpected Love!!

Chapter 1

Where it all began

Do you ever sense you are being watched?
Well every day, every hour and every minute someone is watching embarrassing thing
you have ever done.  How creepy is that?  Well in my life I have found it to be true.

It all started when I was a little girl.  I remember spinning around in circles and
watching my dress twirl around me. When I stopped and I felt weird, uneasy, and
I got cold chills.  I was being watched and I didn’t know by whom and I couldn’t see
anyone. I just continue to spin in circles. Eventually the sensation wore off and I forgot
 about it.

As I got older the feeling was more persistent.  So I started to listen to it. I was
standing at my locker getting my things ready to go home. When I became aware
someone was spying one me.  I glanced around thinking it’s my boyfriend Damon. I don’t
see him at first then he appears from around the corner walking towards me. Just the
sight of him makes me forget about everything else. I mean who
doesn’t love a tall dark and handsome man?  Well, this girl does! My boyfriend Damon
Marks is just that. He has an extreme athletic frame with abs that seem as hard as stone. He loves his every day jeans and T-shirt that show off his strong comforting arms. His troublesome Blue eyes remind me every day of his devilish side.
We have only been dating about a month and so far everything is going well. Only
thing is he has this annoying little jealous streak that really pisses me off sometimes. He always thinks I am interested in other guys. He gets so uptight about other guys mentioninganything about me. Even when his friend jarred asked him if I had been working out? Which is just a simple question, but he took it as he was interested in my body. Really? So now every time Jarred is around he gives him the death stare to
mark his territory. Boys can be so complicated. It’s not like I am the home coming Queen or anything. I guess you could say that I am pretty.
I am about 5’7 and I have long blonde wavy hair and light blue eyes. I have a curvy
athletic frame with a good tan.  I am kind of a shy girl. I like to hang out with my
friends, read books and watch teen drama shows. The thing I love most is shopping with my mom. Every girl’s got to love shopping.
As Damon and I are walking home I become aware that I am being stocked.  You know,
that cold chill that runs down your spine. Yep, that the feeling. I start looking around forsomeone watching me. I don’t see anyone. There are people walking down the street on the other side, however none of them are looking our way. What is wrong with me? Maybe I am just crazy! I snuggle in closer to Damon as we walk home. If there is a creep maybe he will get the point that I am taken.
Damon drops me off at my front door.  I hear my dad yelling for me to hurry up, because we have dinner plans. “Oh joy” dinner tonight probably another sea food restaurant. I hate seafood.  Damon pulls me in for a goodbye hug while whispering in my ear I will call you later Babe.
The car ride over is torcher. My parents are listening to oldies and singing. I think my
ears are going to bleed from the noise. I grab my Ipod and put on Nickleback as loud as I can to drown out that terror.
We finally arrive at Bob’s Crabs another sea food restaurant. As we walk in I am hit with the overwhelming smell of seafood. We are seated right away at a wooden booth with really hard seats. There are a few cast nets with sea creatures in them on the walls as well as fishing décor. Could it be any more cliché?  I search the menu for anything not seafood related.  All I can find is some chicken strips and fries on the kids menu. Why couldn’t my parents choose a steak restaurant instead of the same ole same seafood theme every time.
While waiting for our food to arrive my parents are talking about something that
happened today at work.  Jake, my dad, is the head surgeon at Mercy Hospital and my
mom Melissa is a nurse in the ICU at the same hospital.  I excuse myself  to the bathroom. The bathroom is hideous. There is toilet paper everywhere. “oh,” you don’t want to know the rest.  I go straight to the first stall. Did u know that it is usually the cleanest? Most people by pass the first stall. Yeah, they did a study about it. So since I read that I always try the first stall first and most of the time it is the cleanest.  Let’s just say that this one wasn’t too awful.
As I am walking out I take a look in the mirror and realize that I have part of my skirt
tucked into my underwear and tights. OMG!! That would have been so embarrassing. Thank God no one was in here to see it. If I had walked out into the restaurant like that I might never recover from the embarrassment. An unexpected disturbing feeling washes over me I am immediately aware of the sensation of being observed, but I am in the girl’s restroom. It is completely empty and there are no windows. There is no way someone is watching me. This is so alarming! Am I going insane?
I shrug it off and walk back to the table dinner has arrived.  I notice that my parents are suspiciously peering at me.
Mom asks, did something happen while you were in the restroom? Arissa dear you’re a
little flush. Are you feeling well? Oh my God Arissa are you pregnant?
What? Mom! No way are you crazy?
I just had a little incident in the girl’s room. It was kind of stupid.
Oh ok darling. I know you have that new boyfriend. I think his name is Damon.  I don’t
know if you guys are doing anything, but I would hope that you are using protection.
Wow! Really Mom?
I am not having SEX and I do not plan on doing so until I am married. I have more respect
for myself than that.
Well dear I hope that you do, but sometimes you live in the moment and things can happen.
Well I can promise you if that happens that I will use all necessary precautions. I don’t
want any children before I go off to college. I want to go to college and finish it. Then get married, buy a house and start a family. I don’t want to end up pregnant and ruin all that I have worked for.
Speaking of which, I talked to the school counselor today. We think that I should apply to all the Ivy League schools. Like Harvard, Duke, and Yale. She says, that with my grades I should be able to get a scholarship. I am so excited. I know that they are far away from home, but I really want the whole college experience.
So what do you think?
Arissa, dear I think that is great. Your father and I both went to Yale. We think that
would be great for you to get the full college experience.
So you both are ok with me applying to those schools?
Dad says “Yes, dear we are very excited that you want to do that. “
Yay! I am so excited. I have to start applying over the next few weeks. So will you help
me over Christmas vacation?
Of course dear we will help you.

Once we got home I rushed upstairs to finish up my homework.  I really hate Geometry. I just can’t seem to wrap my head around all the angles and formulas. I just have to understand it enough that it doesn’t affect my GPA.

I hear my phone ring. I almost forgot that Damon said that he was going to call me
tonight.
Hey Babe, How was dinner?
It was good, I got to talk to my parents about the colleges that I want to go to.
Oh really? Where are you planning to apply?
I am going to apply to all the Ivy League schools. My counselor said that I should be able to get in with a scholarship.
That’s great babe.
Thanks, so where do you plan on applying?
Well my grades aren’t as good as yours Arissa. I think I might even have trouble getting into a community college.
Really? Not even community college? I can help you study if you need.
I think it’s a little late for that babe. What’s done is done.
Ok, so how was your night?
I went down to the local pool hall and played some pool with the guys.
That sounds like fun. I wish I would have gone. Even, if I can’t play to save my life. I just like to hit the balls around.
Well if u figured out geometry then it would help you be a better pool player.
Ha! You are so funny. I am trying, but it is not easy for me. I swear my brain just doesn’t comprehend it.
Well it’s late and I need to get some sleep. I have a test in History in first period.
Alright, Love. Sweet dreams.
Night, Damon.

As I lie there in bed thinking to myself.  His grades are so bad that he isn’t going to
college. Do I really want to date someone who doesn’t have a college future? Is this really going to work between us?  I am going away to college and he is not even sure if he can get into community college. I really like him and he is so nice to me, but do I have a future with him? I don’t know I guess all I can do is just sleep on it.

Book Review- The Proposal by Katie Ashley

The Proposal by Katie Ashley picks right up where The Proposition left off. Thank goodness!!! Aidan has realized he made an unbelievably idiotic mistake with letting Emma go and is trying to win her back. It is proving to be especially difficult, seeing as how Emma will not even take his calls, emails, texts, or anything! Emma has made her mind up that if Aidan wants out, she is giving him his out. Aidan however, has realized that he loves Emma and wants to be more than a sperm donor in his baby's life.

To make matters worse, Aidan's love able Irish dad has grown close to Emma and is trying to play match maker. He thinks if Aidan wants Emma he needs to put up a fight for her and go after exactly what he wants! When heart issues land Aidan's father in the hospital it allows a chance encounter for the sexy doctor Pesh, to make his move on Emma. Aidan sees this love interest and he sees green!

Pregnancy problems land Emma on bed rest and Aidan finds this as an opportunity to care for Emma and their unborn son. He decides to take a leave of absence from work and wait hand and foot on Emma hoping to win her heart. I love how Katie Ashley lets the readers have sneak peaks into Aidan's past and why he is the way he is. Underneath that playboy exterior he is a loving, caring, family man just begging for a second chance. Thank you Katie for wrapping up the series in a beautiful love story where true love wins out!

The next installment in this series is the story of Pesh and Morgan ( Aidan's cousin) and I CANNOT wait to read this one!!!!

Book Review- The Proposition by Katie Ashley

How many of us women out there feel like a ticking time bomb is in our womb when it comes to our child bearing years??? This is exactly what Emma, the main character in The Proposition, is battling. She is 30, single, and has a plan on just how she is going to get that baby that she is dreaming of. That plan consists of her gay best friend fathering her baby, but plans sometime go awry. When her best friend's partner informs  her that he doesn't feel comfortable with him fathering a baby, Emma has to go to plan B.

Plan B involves her incredibly sexy coworker, Aidan who is used to getting any woman he wants. When Emma turns him down at their company party, Aidan senses a challenge. He sets his sight on Emma and getting her in his bed. Once he finds out about her "baby daddy" needs, he quickly volunteers to help her out and father her child. At first it is just sex for Aidan, but as the book delves into the back story of Aidan and why he is the way he is,  we all fall in love with him... Including Emma!

Emma and Aidan become friends and lovers and every reader is rooting for them to be a family. Emma finds out she is pregnant and they forge on with plans of the future. Aidan's love able Irish dad is introduced in the story, which makes you root for Emma and Aidan even more! Just when you think they are going to get a happy ever after, Aidan has to go back to his old ways and screw it up.

The Proposition leaves you with a total cliffhanger and an absolute look of "what the?????" on your face! I could not wait for any little clues from Katie Ashley to let me know what in the world will happen with these two characters. Do they split? Do they work it out and stay friends? Does Aidan finally suck it up and express his love for Emma? This is an amazing book and had me waiting on the edge of my seat for The Proposal!

Book review- Is This All There Is by Patricia Mann

When I first started reading the book Is This All There Is by Patricia Mann,  I thought I would not be able to make a connection to this story. The plot is about a 35 year old married mommy of 2 little boys whose marriage is hitting a plateau. The main character Beth is hungry for attention, affection, and an overall need to feel wanted. Once I really got into the first couple of chapters I realized, isn't that what all women yearn for? A man to look at them the way they did when the "courting phase" first began? A man to have hunger in his eyes when he looked her way? A man that was genuinely interested in what she did that day, and not just what the kids did that day? As the story progressed I found myself understanding Beth more and more.

Then a young hot former student enters Beth's life right when she has hit the lowest of lows in the need of feeling wanted. He, of course, shows her the very attention and affection that she has been yearning for. Problem is Beth actually debates if she could have an affair with this young thing and how much of herself will be sucked into this world of secrets and lies.

One thing I really love about this story is one, the author does an outstanding job at describing the feelings that as women we all want. Secondly, Beth has two friends that she uses as her confidants. One is encouraging her to have a little something- something on the side. She convinces Beth that she  deserves to be happy and if her husband is not providing that happiness, then she has the right to look elsewhere. Of course, this friend is cheating on her husband herself. Then there is the second friend. The one that supports Beth with everything else in life, like balancing being a mom, a wife, a working woman, and a woman who still needs a social life outside of play dates. This friend is the more positive influence and when Beth tries to confide in her about the affair, the friend highly discourages those feelings.

I thought Is This All There Is touches on the issues women have everyday. After babies are born we lose our once svelte figures, we begin to live for the new life we brought into the world, and seem to forget ourselves. I found the topic a refreshing one and was rooting for Beth and her husband  to find their way back to each other. Great job Patricia Mann on writing a heartfelt book that many women can relate to.
"Is this all there is?" It’s a question every wife and mother eventually finds herself asking and thirty-five year old Beth Thomas is no exception. On the surface, her life is perfect. She’s married to her college sweetheart, has two beautiful little boys, and enjoys her part-time teaching appointment at the local university. But when a friend persuades Beth to go dancing on a rare night out, a chance meeting with twenty-one year old Dave, one of her former students, changes the course of her life. Loud music, too much to drink, and the thrill of feeling young again lead to an unforgettable kiss that was never supposed to happen. Beth tries to leave the memory behind, but Dave convinces her that he fell in love with her while he was in her class. As he continues to pursue her, he forces her to look at everything in her life through a different lens and the temptation of what he’s offering becomes too strong.

I was given this book by the author to write a review for her. I'm really excited to get started on this one! Check back for my review.... This should be a quick read! :)
Secrets and lies have surrounded 21-year-old Quinn Zauber since a vampire killed her mother and brother a year ago. Jo-Jo Huang, her best friend and roommate, has offered steady support, even going along with Quinn’s crazy ghost-hunting schemes. Now Jo-Jo has been kidnapped, and clues point to an audio recorder the roomies placed in Portland’s notorious underground tunnels.

With her naïve cousin Kasey riding shotgun and an old attraction, paranormal investigator Del Whelan, imposing his own brand of help, Quinn searches for Jo-Jo, fights supernaturals, and strives to keep her horrible secrets under wraps.

What Quinn doesn’t realize is that her witch bloodline makes her of special interest to one of the deadliest vampires around.

Review for Crossfire by Laura Bradley Rede

Wow!! Where do I even begin for this review of Crossfire, the 2nd book in the Darkride Chronicles!! I have been absolutely obsessed with this series and so very invested in the characters and their individual stories. I loved that Crossfire delved into the individual story lines, but stayed true to the overall plot. I was unable to pry my eyes away from this book and was anxious in what in the world will happen next?????

The story continues where Darkride left off and we find Cicely, Ander, and Luke forging on in their fight against the vampire queen's loyal servants and the werewolves looking to avenge the death of their Alpha. I love how some of the low key characters from Darkride were included in Crossfire and were made to have very important roles! I was very happy to see everyone ultimately had a happy ending without the story being predictable and sappy. Yes, there were some characters that we hated to say good bye to, but sacrifices have to be made for good story lines. :)  I found myself so deeply invested in each character and their own personal battle and hoping like crazy they each made it through the showdown of good vs. evil. Of course, the good were Cicely and the gang, and the evil was Ander's self righteous werewolf family. Ha!!

I can only hope that Laura Bradley Rede will bless us with a book 3 and let the journey for these characters continue!! I would love to see where the newly coupled characters' lives go with fast forwards into their futures. I was pleased that Emmie and Luke, Ander and Cicely, and possibly even Naomi found that true love can conquer all!! Great job once again Laura Bradley Rede!!!

It’s hard to move on when someone you love dies–especially if that someone is you. But that’s exactly what Cicely Watson is trying to do: move on, away from the sunlit life she knew and into her life as a vampire. It’s the only way to protect her friends, and her only hope of getting close to the guy she loves. Now that Ander can control the wolf inside him, Cicely is determined they will finally be together–even if their natural instincts tell them to tear each other apart.

But when Ander meets a new girl with a power he can’t resist, Cicely fears she saved his life only to lose his love. And what about her own feelings for Luke Marianez, the handsome vampire prince? She always claimed dark, brooding Luke simply wasn’t her type, but can she still deny the fire between them now that she’s his kind? When the enemy captures someone she loves, Cicely is forced to choose. Can a heart that stopped beating start loving at last? Or will true love be caught in the crossfire?
