We are so very excited to be a stop on Tania Penn's The Morning Star book tour!! We have lots of goodies for you.... so keep reading!! :)
Blurb:
My Review:Being the daughter of Lucifer keeps seventeen year old Dawn Belial busy. For almost her entire lifetime, she has been trying to think of a way to free her Archangel mother, Michaela, whom her father has held captive for centuries. She's also attending high school - balancing trigonometry, history, and recruiting souls for her father along with her wicked half-sister, Venus.
There has been no time for love until she meets mysterious Gabriel, a British exchange student. As they fall in love against their will, she discovers a startling secret about him, and a shocking connection to her mother that changes everything.
What a fantastic, quick, engaging read The Morning Star is!!! I read this book in a little over 1 day because I COULD NOT put it down!! I would bookmark.... go back... bookmark.... go back!! I would say time for bed... and end up getting my iPad back out again so I could read about Dawn!! Great job Tania Penn at writing a different spin to the whole angel/demon genre and making the characters real beings we could make connections to!
Dawn's character was intriguing to me right from page 1! I loved how she was a perfect mix of angel and demon, good and evil, but had these perfectly normal human feelings that made her seem so genuine. Dawn was Satan and the only female Archangel's daughter. She could make fire with her hands... and caused some mischief for her dear old daddy. Underneath that beautiful demon exterior was a kind hearted, loving, thoughtful girl. I wondered the entire book which side of Dawn would she grasp onto and what side would she take? Dawn showed compassion in the only way she knew how to people she cared about. Sometimes that compassion is what led her to trouble and got her caught in traps.
The family dynamics in this book had me cracking up. If you ignore the fact that Dawn's dad is Satan, her step mother is an original succubus that Satan created himself, her half sister is an evil little vixen, and her mother is an imprisoned Archangel... oh and the boy she falls in love with.... keep an eye on him. So, take away all of those facts and Dawn is just a normal high school teenager trying to live her life and face challenges thrown her way.
I give The Morning Star 4 stars on the knock my socks off scale! If paranormal is your cup of tea.... this is a MUST read!! I am patiently.... well not really patiently.... waiting for book 2 so I can continue following the story of Dawn and what does she decide to do?!?!?!?!
Favorite Quote: This shows that Venus is evil, but she is taking up for a friend in this scene. ;)
"Twinkle, twinkle, little whore, beauty you will have no more. When you die you'll see my face, welcoming you to Hells gates." Venus chanted and taunted as she circled and spat on Marie in the face for good measure.
About the Author:
Author of debut young adult novel, The Morning Star. Currently working on the sequel, Equinox, as well as a chick-lit, rom-com, slightly sleazy and funny story with a twist, Catching Frogs. And, because I'm loco in the roco, I've got about 12 more on the back burner. When I'm not writing I can be found kayaking, hiking, ninja-training, traveling, and taking a ferry over to the San Juan Islands to search for the elusive creature known as the "Orca." I also am constantly adding ridiculous wants, needs, must-see's and do's to my ever expanding bucket book. I covet a delicious malbec with a rare steak and make a killer salsa.
