We are super excited to have Laura Howard and her Ah-May-Zing book, The Forgotten Ones, on our blog today!!! Happy Release Day Laura!!
Blurb:
Allison O'Malley's plan is to go to grad school so she can get a good job and take care of her schizophrenic mother. She has carefully closed herself off from everything else, including a relationship with Ethan, who she's been in love with for as long as she can remember.
What is definitely not part of the plan is the return of her long-lost father, who claims he can bring Allison's mother back from the dark place her mind has gone. Allison doesn't trust her father, so why would she believe his stories about a long forgotten Irish people, the Tuatha de Danaan? But truths have a way of revealing themselves. Secrets will eventually surface. And Allison must learn to set aside her plan and work with her father if there is even a small chance it could restore her mother's sanity.
My Review:
I loved this book!! Laura Howard has a true talent for using her words to paint vivid imagery in the reader's mind. I could see the land of the Fae so clearly that I truly felt like I was there! If you like the paranormal, Fae, other worldly type of books... this is a must read!!
Allison has grown up with a schizophrenic mother since she was a young child. She knows that her mom was healthy once and they were happy, but it seems like a lifetime ago. Allison spends her days and nights caring for her sick mom and trying her hardest to figure out how she can balance supporting her mother and going to college to make something of herself. Allison has an absentee father and the answer is unclear why he left or where he is at. She believes her father's disappearance is connected to her mother's mental instability, but can't put her finger on it. Allison truly believes her only goal in life is to support her mother so her grandparents do not have to continue to do it. She has shut herself and her emotions off from the world to see that goal come true.
However, there is a certain little hottie that doesn't want to take no for an answer and makes Allison second guess her choice of living only for her mom. That certain someone is named Ethan and has a way of making Allison's blood and hormones boil over. Allison has secretly been in love with Ethan for as long as she can remember, and has hidden it from everyone including her nosy cousin! Allison soon finds it hard to resist Ethan's charm and deny what she has so long tried to avoid.
Little does Allison know that her world is about to be turned upside down when her father makes an unexpected appearance in her life trying to teach her about a world she has never even dreamed of. Is he crazy?? Is he why her mother is crazy???? Did he drink the purple cool aid???? Oh wait... that last question was my own personal thought... LOL!!! Allison is about to embark on a journey and a quest like no other. Can she help her mother?? Is there a cure for her mother's mental disability??? Will she be able to do what is required of her??? Will she hurt more people than she will help??? All of these and more were swarming in my head while reading this awesome book.
I give The Forgotten Ones 4 stars on the knock my socks off scale!! I loved this story, I loved the creative imagery the author was able to create, and I can't wait to find out what happens with Allison and her mother!! Kudos to Laura Howard... go 1-click NOW!!!
Author Bio:
Laura Howard lives in New Hampshire with her husband and four children. Her obsession with books began at the age of 6 when she got her first library card. Nancy Drew, Sweet Valley High and other girly novels were routinely devoured in single sittings. Books took a backseat to diapers when she had her first child. It wasn’t until the release of a little novel called Twilight, 8 years later, that she rediscovered her love of fiction. Soon after, her own characters began to make themselves known. The Forgotten Ones is her first published novel.
We are also pleased to welcome C.A. Williams and her new book Chaotic to our blog today!! I LOVE this cover!!!
Chaotic
Series- Book #1 of The Imperfect Perfection series
Expected Publication Date-May 15th
Blurb:Adelaide McGregor was spinning out of control, in a world of pain that no one knew anything about. She put up a front, displaying a picture perfect girl that everyone wanted to be, but no one was truly there for her. Then she was sent away to live near her grandparents due to bad behavior when her mother decided she just didn't want to deal with her any longer. Without a penny to her name and no where else to go, her life was uprooted to North Carolina. Everything seems to be changing for the better with her fresh new start until she meets a guy who flips her world upside down all over again. Sometimes you have to make it through the struggles of imperfection in life for everything to come out as complete perfection, but Della hasn't quite learned that lesson yet.
Author Info:
I am a stay at home mom to two crazy little boys, with another baby on the way.(Finally Pink!) I've been married to my high school sweetheart for almost six years now and he is my biggest supporter. I've always had a love for books since the time I first started reading and started swapping books with my mom when I got a little older. My love for reading turned into a love for writing and I've enjoyed every second of it. Links- Goodreads-
