Blog Tour: Painted Lines by Brei Betzold

Today we are welcoming the amazeball Brei Betzold and her book, Painted Lines to our blog!!!!
Scout has always wanted to follow in her family’s business of custom bike building. Being female never stopped her from getting greasy and slapping on paint with the best of them, and made her work even harder at opening up her own shop someday.
When an opportunity to win $500,000 dollars in prize money presents itself, Scout and her group of misfit friends sign on the dotted line to be filmed for a reality television show to win it. But like anything in life there’s always a catch to free money.
When nightmares of the past meet dreams of the future, Scout is forced to face her demons, or be quickly over run by the memories. In the midst of her inner turmoil, family will come home, and possibly a life she never expected to have could be within her grasp.

“Hey,” he said acknowledging me but not taking his eyes off my pedal car.
“Hey,” I replied wondering how he got in here, and what he wanted.
“So what exactly are you doing here?” he asked gesturing at the car.
“Uhm painting it,” I countered sarcastically.
He looked over at me, and I realized he had the most gorgeous grey stormy eyes.  They had a dark blue circling them making them resemble storm clouds on the horizon.  I let out a startled gasp tracing his strong square jaw with my eyes following his facial hair that curved around accentuating it.  His brown hair had natural red highlights that set off his amazing eyes.  Simply, he was beautiful only in a sheer masculine kind of way and he was not for me.  I cleared my throat and forced myself to look back towards the car trying to remember what I was doing before I was sidetracked.
“I realize that, smart ass, but what exactly?”
“Uhm a lace pattern,” I mumbled trying not to get ensnared by those eyes again.
“Huh, never seen that before,” he retorted I glanced up quickly to find him looking at me oddly.
I shrugged trying to ease the tension in my shoulders and look unaffected with him standing there staring at me.  “It’s not done often anymore.”
“Well I look forward to seeing it when it’s done.”
I nodded and looked back towards the door, wanting to escape this odd conversation.
“I’m sorry about the other morning, I was out of line, it’s just that Tris is or was our leader, and we’ve been having issues since he’s not here.”
“Understandable,” I muttered, “but not my problem.”
“No, it’s not, at least not that I am on a team full of jack asses.” I could tell by the look he shot me that he did think it was my fault though that his fearless leader wasn’t here.

My Review:

Holy Hell!!!!! Painted Lines has just blown past some of my other faves and jumped right up to my top 5!!!! The last chapter of this book left me with my mouth gaped opened, my heart tightly constricted, and my soul begging for what  I thought had happened to be wrong. Kudos to Brie.... This is by far in my opinion her best book yet!!!!

Painted Lines follows the life of a young lady who has been broken, scarred beyond what she deems as reparable, and desperate to have a life but too scared to live it. Scout lived through a nightmare... Literally.... And is now overly protected by her broth, cousin, and their two friends. Everyone has vowed that nothing nor anyone will ever hurt Scout again! This can give a 22 year old girl wanting to start running her own life and making her own decisions a tad bit of trouble.

Scout's team of bike/car rebuilders have decided to enter a TV contest to win 500 thousand dollars. They have the confidence to win challenges, and compete tasks. What they are not prepared for is for some old demons to resurface and challenge their patience and sanity. Scout will soon learn that her life has been more sheltered than even she knew about! Will she be strong enough to fight for her independence or will fear make her complacent and let her family continue to plan her life for her?

There were moments while reading where I was literally sitting on the edge of my seat. These characters made me laugh, cry, want to punch some of them in the throat, and want to yell TRUST HIM PLEASE!!! I devoured Painted Lines in one sitting. No bookmarks, no breaks, no giving his book up! It was absolutely AMAZEBALLS!!! I easily give this book 5 stars on the knock my socks off scale!!! YOU HAVE to add this book to our TBR list and 1-Click.... STAT!!!

Blog Tour: Blind Attraction by Eden Summers Blog Tour: Sapphire Universe by Devon Herrera

  • Blog Tour: Blind Attraction by Eden Summers
  • Blog Tour: Sapphire Universe by Devon Herrera

Blind Attraction (Reckless Beat #1) by Eden Summers

He can seduce with a single glance.

Peering down at a sea of fans, rock star, Mitchell Davies can’t deny the innocent beauty of a woman in the front row. He’ll stop at nothing to get to know her. When a public altercation leaves her weak and defenseless, he takes the opportunity to be her savior.

She’s been sheltered from the world.

Alana Shelton wants to spread her wings and experience life away from her restrictive upbringing. But she isn’t prepared for a gorgeous stranger to sweep her off her feet while at her most vulnerable. Attraction will bring them together, but their pasts will try to tear them apart.

He wants to teach her how to trust, but she’ll show him how to love. In a glamorous world of rock-and-roll, only time will tell if they’re up for the challenge.

My Review:

Oh Mitchell Davies!! Rock god, sex on legs, lead guitarist that has had more bras and panties thrown his way than he can count has finally met someone worth falling for! Mitch scopes Alana out at one of his concerts  and feels an immediate pull to her. She is not one of his typical groupies and has an innocence about her that beckons his bad boy to want to bring out her inner lioness. Sparks fly, the drama is never ending, and maybe... just maybe love can be found.

Alana has had a sheltered life with living with her mother on a retreat where no men are allowed. She has decided she wants to start her own life where she can fall in love, get married, have babies... basically LIVE. Can Alana make herself get accustomed to bad boy Mitch's lifestyle or will their opposites attract connection be too much of a difference?

I give Blind Attraction 5 stars on the knock my socks of scale. I love how Eden Summers brought two different worlds of people together and made them connect. I read this book in one sitting and desperately wanted Mitch to have his happy ending. He is a bad boy on the outside, but a soft, gentle romantic buried inside.

About the Author:
Eden Summers is a true blue Aussie, living in regional New South Wales with her two energetic young boys and a quick witted husband.

In late 2010, Eden’s romance obsession could no longer be sated by reading alone, so she decided to give voice to the sexy men and sassy women in her mind.

Eden can’t resist alpha dominance, dark features and sarcasm in her fictional heroes and loves a strong heroine who knows when to bite her tongue but also serves retribution with a feminine smile on her face.

If you pay attention the Universe will always steer you in the right direction. It will help keep you safe. So, she follows the rules, and she is safe. Until Connor Wright barges his way through all her carefully laid defenses and threatens to destroy the comfortable life she has created. Faithfully following her #1 rule, Nina tries to accept that the Universe has pushed Connor and her lives together for a purpose. Determined to make Nina his, Connor chips away at the walls Nina has placed around her heart and her secrets. Is Nina following the signs that will lead her down the right path, or does Connor hold secrets of his own that will ruin Nina for good? Only the Universe knows.

My Review:

Sapphire Universe  is a quick read, a well written story that grabbed my attention and held it from start to finish, and an inspiring story of love and defeating the universe. I loved how Devon Herrara tied in key components of the story  to the title of the book!

Nina is a snarky, here is my wall protecting my heart and you will never get over it music teacher. She lost her parents when she was young and holds everyone off at arms length. She is no nonsense and thinks that the universe has it out for her. Everything happens for a reason d she sees signs everywhere she goes. She believes if you trust in these signs, your life will be as it should. She has her rules, and she does not like to stray from them.

Nina's life totally changes on a bus ride to school one morning. Connor Wright is a super sexy, confident, alpha male that sees Nina and knows one thing... HE WANTS HER! He forces his way into Nina's life even if at first it is under the pre-tense of being friends. He also quickly forces his way into Nina's heart. The question is, will Nina let him in there and allow him to stay or will she misread signs and possibly mess up her entire future.

Nina and Connor have quite the whirlwind romance and there is never a dull moment with these two. There is love, drama, friendship... oh... and HOT sex!!!! Wowzers.... Wright... WHEW!!! I adored both of these characters and was hoping the universe wanted them to be together as much as I did. I give Sapphire Universe 4 stars on the knock my socks off scale! This is a must read and I highly suggest that you 1-Click STAT!

About the Author:
I am a wife of a U.S Army Soldier and mother of a beautiful little girl. I work for the Wyoming Department of Revenue in Cheyenne Wyoming, and no we don't still ride horses out here. I've been in love with reading since I first discovered the Harry Potter series in 4th grade. I don't just read a good book I devour it. After reading hundreds of novels I finally bit the bullet and sat down to write one of my own. I had an idea in my head and as soon as I started writing, the story seemed to play out right infront of me. Nothing has ever felt so natural. About 10 chapters into it I decided that I was going to take the plunge and get it self published as an Ebook. "Sapphire Universe" is a Contemporary Romance novel for adults, because lets face it, I'm female. Romance is what I like to read so it's what I'm going to write. I'll be posting some teasers and keeping you up to date on my progress as I finish writing and editing. Thank you so much for your support, and I can't wait for you to read "Sapphire Universe."

About to graduate college and pursue her dreams of becoming a professional ballerina, Candace decides it’s time to let go and have a little fun. The memories that consume and torment Candace are starting to destroy her when she meets Ryan Campbell, a successful bar owner. He feels instantly connected and tries to show her that hope is worth fighting for. But is Ryan harboring his own demons? As walls slowly begin to chip away, the secrets that are held within start to become painful burdens. At what point do secrets become lies?

Jack and Candace at Remedy

Jack leans in close to my ear and whispers, “You wanna dance?”

Taking my hand in his, he helps me off the barstool, and we make our way to the crowded dance floor. I start to move to the beat of the music that blasts throughout the club. ‘Push It’ by Garbage is playing, and I lose myself in the sea of people dancing around me along with the flashing lights and loud music.

Jack is behind me, and I feel his arms as they slide across my stomach, underneath the hem of my top. He moves in sync with me as I dance to the rhythm of the song. I can already feel drops of sweat trickling down my spine, and it must be the tequila that is making me feel bold when I reach up behind me and wrap my hand around the back of his neck. I feel the stubble on his jaw as he glides his chin along my damp neck and takes a soft bite. Shit, that’s hot.
Turning me around in his arms, I can see the heat in his darkening eyes. I rake my fingers through the hair on the back of his head as he pulls my hips tight against him, and he leans down and covers my mouth with his.
I’m not sure what has come over me. Since my conversation with Roxy, I have been a little bit bolder with myself. But here, in the middle of this dance floor, kissing Jack, is pretty damn bold for me.

SQUEEE!!! My love Lynetta Halat is visiting our blog again today!!!!
What do you do when you realize you were foolish enough to throw away true, unconditional love?

Lorraina Dabney turns her back on her creativity and tumultuous upbringing to embark on a college career that will lead her to law school and to becoming what she values most in life—a controlled, powerful, respected woman. When she stumbles upon her childhood friend's artwork, she feels inspired to reconnect with him and her former self. This onslaught of emotion will send Lorraina into a tale-spin to figure out exactly why she abandoned all that she was, all that she could've been.

Coming from his own chaotic upbringing, Michael falls quickly and deeply in love with Lorraina at a tender age. Even her rejection can't stand in the way of his obsession. When she starts to date other boys, however, Michael finally relents, causing him to spiral further into a world filled with violence, drugs, alcohol, and women. Realizing his lifestyle will only lead to his further estrangement from Lorraina, Michael sets about to turn himself around before going to get his girl.

Michael Bang will have Lorraina questioning everything.
Michael shakes his head and grins at me. I fight the sudden urge to run my hands through that silky midnight hair of his. “Always so quick to label and categorize. I guess that’s what will make you an excellent attorney. Assess. Label. Categorize. Add up the W’s. ” He leans in a little and whispers, “How about we just go with the flow? See where it leads us. Label later?” He raises his brows, offering my type-A dominant personality a direct challenge.

Caution to the wind, very atypical for me, I reply, “OK. I’m up for it.” Challenge accepted. “You?” Challenge returned.

“You bet, Lorraina,” he rasps softly.

He leans into my door and places his hands on top of mine. I’m suddenly quite anxious and ever so grateful for the door between us. My hands get clammy and my heart races. Blood races and pounds in my ears, making me feel very much awake now. One hand moves up to brush my hair from my forehead and moves down feather light until his knuckles brush across my cheekbone and lips. He pulls his thumb slowly across my lips. It’s excruciating. It’s exquisite.

Both of his hands come forward to frame my face gently, and he pulls me in for a kiss. A too quick kiss. It’s over before I realize it’s even begun. He gives me a half smile and turns and walks away. “Michael!” My voice barely sounds human. More animal in nature. It’s raw with ache.

He turns and takes two long strides back to me. This time when he grasps my head it’s anything but gentle. He pulls my lip in and nudges my lips open with his. All rational thought escapes me. I mirror his grasp and enjoy the fullness I feel with him in my mouth. I give as good as I get. This kiss is nothing like our two before. I savor it.

When he turns to walk away, I release a long pent up breath. If he would’ve looked back, he would’ve seen that I was the one on my knees now.

My Review:

Have you ever read a book that left you so incredibly emotionally raw that it was all you could think about for DAYS after you finished reading it???? That is exactly how Every Rose left me feeling. I only hope that my review gives this book the justice it deserves and can relay the awesomeness that is Lynetta Halat to you! I am still reeling from the emotional roller coaster ride that I was on during this book and I don't know if I want to yell at or hug this author!! Lynetta Halat is an evil genius and her story SUCKED me in from page 1!!

Every Rose follows the life of Lorraina and Micheal, neither of whom have had the easiest or most honorable upbringing. Michael was the town's outcast because he was a Native American and Lorraina was an outcast because of her father. Micheal decides at an early age that Lorraina is his future wife and pursues her with no holds barred. Lorraina, however, wants to only be friends and tries to persuade him (and herself) that there isn't anything between them but friendship. She decides that if he can't be friends, then they can't be anything and they part ways.

Fast forward to the ripe age of 22. Lorraina is now about to graduate college and has applied to law school. She goes home to visit her family over Christmas Break and runs across a piece of artwork that looks very familiar. It just so happens that the artist is Micheal and Lorriana is hellbent on reconnecting with him to see how he is doing. She finds out that he is playing a show at a local coffee house and plans the reunion. From the first note out of his mouth she is bombarded with memories and Lorraina now has to face the facts that she may have made the biggest mistake of her life by telling him to get lost all of those years ago. Will Micheal still have feelings for her and believe she is his one true love, or has he moved on and dropped that thought like a hot cake?

The story of how their reunion goes and what happens next must be read. There is no way I am going to spoil that, nor is there any way that I can write their story and hook you in as well as reading this book for yourself! I give Every Rose a solid 5 stars on the knock my socks off scale!! If my scale went to 10.... this book would get a 20!!! I will warn you, you may want to grab a box of tissues and make sure you have a full day ahead because once you start reading Every Rose... you WILL NOT stop!! I devoured this book in one sitting... forget kids needing to be fed, forget feeding myself! I HAD to know what happens with Lorraina and Micheal and there was NO WAY I could bookmark and come back later! I laughed, cried, laughed some more, and ugly cried... I mean U-G-L-Y cried!!! Face puffy and red, eyes swollen, tissues gone.. ugly cried. This story is so incredibly touching that it has sent me into a book hangover!! Kudos Lynetta Halat... you definitely have a permanent fan at R is my TO!!!

Emma Walker was a writer who'd lost herself to someone else's anger--who had given up on ever feeling like herself again.

Evan Levesque was a rock-god--the one all the woman wanted, but he'd never gotten used to the loneliness between the stage and real life. With just one cup of coffee they'll begin a journey of self-discovery at each others sides, but can Emma handle Evan's fame while dealing with her own demons? Emma's checkered personal past, a bad relationship that haunts the edges of her memories, threatens to make everything implode on them when Evan takes matters into his own hands.

Sticks and stones may break my bones, but your words...they'll destroy my soul--Can Emma handle being put back together and facing who she's become because of it?

My Review:

OK... have you ever read the first chapter of a book and then thought... this is not realistic because it could never happen! No one ever falls instantly in love and with a rock god no less! I am not sure if I am going to connect with this book. These were all thoughts of my own as I began to read Love, Exactly. That is until this book SUCKED ME IN and I myself fell instantly for Evan Levesque! Cassandra Giovanni... you are a little temptress and I stayed awake until 3 AM to finish this book! No bookmarks... no breaks.. read straight through in a zombie state with the mantra that I HAVE to find out where Evan and Emma go!!

Emma is damaged goods. She has been terribly hurt before (mentally, physically, and emotionally) by a boyfriend and she has self doubts wider than the Grand Canyon. She has no belief in herself, her writing talent, or anyone else for that matter. While getting her cheap gas station coffee she runs into a wall of HAWT man that takes her breath away and makes her second guess herself and all that she has settled for.

Evan Levesque is a rock god!! He has it all... money... fame...
thousands of adoring fans... but he doesn't have what he wants most. That is someone to want him for him...not the bad rock go Evan Levesque! Bumping into Emma was the best thing that happened to him. He found a soul mate that he didn't even realize he was looking for. He feels an instant zing and is bound and determined to have her. He soon finds out that he is going to have to mend some broken pieces before he can totally have Emma.

Will Emma allow him to begin the healing process on her heart or will fear make her tuck her tail between her legs and run like the wind??? This was the question that was burning in my mind as I read Love, Exactly and the reason I had to stay awake until I finished the entire book! I give this book 4 stars on the knock my socks off scale and would gladly fore go sleep again to read it over and over!!

BoOk BlItZ DaY for Change of Heart by Scarlett Edward!!!!

That's how I've gotten through nineteen years of life. It's what I do every single day--no matter how badly the odds are stacked against me.

Persevere, and survive.

Those are my two guiding words. I never knew either of my parents. I have no family and no home. The only person I could ever rely on was myself. In this cruel world, that's about as much as I can ask for.

Love? Hah. Don't talk to me about love. I stopped believing in it the day my first boyfriend ripped out my heart three years ago.

That's why love is the last thing on my mind when I leave a packed college bar with a captivating stranger. Yet everything changes when I'm awakened in the middle of the night by a pounding at the door. Suddenly, an arrangement meant for just one night threatens to become something much deeper.

All expectations are thrown to the wind as I'm tangled in a dangerous world unlike anything I can believe. The man I met has secrets swirling around him like a dark cape. I'm about to become his biggest one...

Together, we stumble toward the elevator. Rich breaks away for a second to hit the button. The light doesn't come on.

"Damn," he growls, "it's busted again."

I'm one step ahead of him. I'd spotted the stairs when we entered. I grab his hand and pull him after me with no hesitation. I start up the cement stairwell, determined to get to his room as fast as possible.

"Penny, wait."

I look back, confused. "What?"

A devilish smile plays on his lips. "Only this." Without warning his hands wrap around my waist, and I'm being lifted up as easily as if I were a doll. He turns to the side and presses my body against the wall, suspending me between him and the concrete.

His mouth crashes down on mine again. I curl my legs around his torso, locking my ankles together, and kiss him back with the passion reserved for a lover after ten long years apart. I didn't think it was possible, but I'm getting even more turned on. Rich's hands move down to grasp the outside of my thighs, and I moan into his kiss as the muscles of my core clench in sinful fashion. I want him so badly. If we don't get somewhere private soon, I won't be wholly opposed to jumping him in public.

I gasp as he steps away, freeing me from the wall. I start to fall, but one of his hands darts down to catch me just beneath the knees. The other one cradles my shoulders. Before I know it, I'm slung across his arms like a bride on her wedding night.

"I've always wanted to carry a girl up these stairs," Rich admits.

I laugh, and wrap my arm around his neck. "Oh, you are just the best type of romantic."

Four flights of stairs later, Rich pushes open the fire door to a dimly-lit hallway. He carries me down the hall and stops in front of an entrance on the right. He sets me down, then fishes around in his jeans for the key. When the door creaks open, he sweeps a hand out in front of him. "Welcome to my humble abode."

I walk in, curious about his apartment. I tend to side with the camp of people who believe that a person's living arrangements can reveal a lot about his personality. But, I don't find much to work with here.

The apartment is sparse and dark. Pale moonlight filters in through the balcony window, shining down on the only piece of furniture present: a queen size mattress lying on the floor of the living room. The red brick walls are totally empty--no girly posters or other things I might expect in a bachelor's apartment. There are no lamps, no chairs, no couches.

After a moment, I notice a second piece of furniture: a small, old-school CRT TV camped in one corner of the studio apartment.

Rich switches on the light. "So?" he asks, "what do you think?"

I walk past the entrance. There's one hall leading away from the room. It is filled with brown cardboard boxes. Lots and lots of boxes. "Did you just move in or something?"

Rich laughs behind me. "Yeah, something like that. You want a drink?"

"A drink?" I say. "No, I--"

The words catch in my throat as he grabs my hips and spins me around. I had no idea he'd come so close. He'd moved from the door to me without making a sound. His fingers lock together against my lower back, and he tugs me into him, pressing my belly to his waist. I feel his growing erection right away, and a diabolical excitement builds inside me.

Nothing happens.

For a long moment, Richard just holds me like that, staring into my eyes as I'm left dangling off his arms. His irises are the color of sea mist. I'm hypnotized by the deep intensity I see brewing just beneath the surface. I have no doubt that that type of intensity is mirrored in my eyes.

Then, moving slowly, as if restraining himself, Richard lowers his mouth to cover mine. This time, his kiss is sweet and gentle. Subtle and caring. He explores my upper lip first, then traces the line going to the corner of my mouth. His lips form a perfect mold over mine.

I was wrong before. This is the kiss reserved for a lover you haven't seen in ten years.

About the Author:
I’m Scarlett Edwards. I’m a full-time student (2nd year, undergrad) and part-time writer. I hope to switch those around soon!

Yours to Savor is the first full book I worked on. It went through six drafts, and took me ten months to complete. In the two months since getting it done, I finished two drafts of brand new stories. I’m getting faster!

I love hearing from my readers. I love getting feedback about my books. I’m just getting started, and plan on doing this writing gig for a long, long time. Every review I get helps me write a little bit better.

I’m kind of old fashioned. I write all my stories using paper and ink. At the end of the day, I transcribe them on my laptop. It takes a bit longer, but writing in a notebook really focuses my thoughts.

I love vintage photography. I have an old-school film camera that was my mom’s before I was born. I use it to take pictures almost every day.

I take inspiration from all the indie romance authors. Addison Moore, Samantha Young, Colleen Hoover, Jessica Sorensen, and everyone else... you girls rock!

Today we have Tara Mills and her book Grading on Curves on our blog!!
 ***Content Warning: contains sensual sex***
Available now at Beachwalk Press, Amazon, Amazon UK, and Barnes & Noble

One-on-one instruction never felt so right—or so wrong. There’s nothing unusual about Mia Page’s attraction to the young science teacher at the middle school. After all, she’s not the only one who finds him enticing. But when he pulls her son aside to ask for her phone number, she knows she’s in serious trouble. Since her divorce four years earlier, she’s been out of circulation, choosing to focus on parenting instead, and she’s not entirely sure she can handle an entanglement with the sexy Mr. Walden.

There are also other reasons why getting involved with Curt would be a bad idea. He’s two years shy of thirty, and she’s on the downside of that unmentionable number. He’s adamant about never having kids, and she has a son. Even the guy’s romantic gifts are suspect. Energy saving light bulbs? He has to be kidding.

On the other hand, he’s fun, sweet, and smart. He stimulates her intellectually, emotionally, and Lord help her, physically, opening her eyes to life outside her comfortable world. Yet their differences quietly gnaw at Mia even while she succumbs to their undeniable chemistry.

As their romance deepens, so do Mia’s fears that Curt will eventually hurt her. On edge, all it takes is an innocent comment to provoke her into drawing first blood. Mia recklessly wounds Curt, learning only too late that this blade cuts both ways. Frantic to make amends, she fears it might be too late to admit the feelings she’s tried so hard to suppress.

My Review:

Oh Mr. Walden... if only I could have had a science teacher that was as sexy as you!!! Grading on Curves was a quick, easy read with plenty of story, sex, and laughs!! I love how Tara Mills took a "cougar" type woman and made her story typical for what many single middle aged women everywhere are going through!

Mia is a single mom of a teenage boy who married too young and married her best friend, not a lover. Her life has been at a stale mate since she has been divorced and she has focused all of her attention and energy on her son and not herself.  Her love life is non-existent, she is best friends with her ex husband, and her day to day is a routine rut! All that changes when she meets sex on legs Curt Walden. Mia sees Curt at a coffee shop while with her friend and she feels an instant zing. However, their lives do not really cross until Mia's son breaks his wrist at school and his teacher has to take him to the hospital. Little did Mia know, that the sex on legs guy from the coffee shop and the teacher are one in the same!

Grading on Curves follows the story of Mia learning to date, letting go of herself and giving her heart away again. Will she let the age difference between her and Curt be an obstacle or will she follow her heart and pursue a real relationship with him. I give this book 4 stars on the knock my socks off scale! I love the way the ending wrapped up the story, but also left it opened for a second book. Kudos to Tara Mills!!

Author Info:
I write stories I like to read -- contemporary romances with identifiable characters and themes. Life is hard, love makes it bearable. If you like stories with heart, heat, and humor, I have a title for you.

In the real world I'm a pampered wife, lucky mom to three amazing sons and one wonderful daughter-in-law, and I just became a very young grandma. I should probably underline the word very. Oh heck, why not the word young too? Nah, you get the point. I'm also the daily monitor of one naughty dog with an attitude.

Growing up in small town Wisconsin, Carly Turner couldn't wait to escape when she graduated high school. Now, she's living the life in New York City, even if she isn't seeing her name in lights like she used to dream about at night. She's living paycheck-to-paycheck, working behind the scenes in small theaters off Broadway. When there's an equipment malfunction the week before opening night, Carly makes a call that winds up changing everything.

Life in the city isn't all it's cracked up to be. While she feels like she's getting closer to making the move from behind the scenes to center stage, she misses being surrounded by people who understand the quirks that come from living in a town of five thousand people. That, and the fact that he's sexy as sin, make Adam everything she feels like she's missing.

The only problem? He's her best friend's kid brother...

Adam Sanders wants to settle down, find a good woman and start a family like he sees so many of his friends doing. But how is he supposed to meet Ms. Right when he's constantly on the road for work? When he's sent to New York to handle a repair that would typically be contracted out as a favor to his boss, he's just about to his breaking point.

Everything changes when the stagehand sent to open the theater for him is none other than his big sister's childhood friend. The same girl he lusted after as a teenager. Could this be fate's way of showing him that he was looking in the wrong place for love?

As Adam and Carly's friendship develops, lines will be crossed and rules will be broken. Will they be able to come out the other side without destroying everything they had back in Brooklyn?

Author Bio:
With the exception of three years spent in the middle of Nebraska, H.B. Heinzer has called southern Wisconsin home. During that time in Nebraska, she imagined one of her favorite authors living on the far western edge of the county, just south of the highway. At the time, becoming a novelist was a distant dream for her. Now, she is the author living in that location. Ironically, she later found out that same favorite author lives just outside the town HB lived in for the first eighteen years of her life.

Now, HB lives in the middle of nowhere but still close enough to the city to not feel isolated. It's the perfect place to let her two kids run and explore their huge yard, teach them about the food chain as they prepare their first-ever garden and debate building a chicken coop. It's one of those dreams that is only possible thanks to the amazing opportunities that have come through writing.

The next installment of the COUNTERMEASURE SERIES has a tentative release date set for November 5th, 2013. The story continues where TO RUSSIA WITH LOVE left off and pursues a parallel between Trevor and Cassandra Bauer’s quest and a daring attack on US nationals.
CIA operative Nathan Nelson has built his life on secrets. Secrets about events that have shaped him into the man he has become. Events that taught him to keep his shields up. He has kept them buried in the past and nobody—not even Cassandra Bauer, the woman he claimed to love—knows of them. Now, those secrets have come barreling down on him at the worst of times.
Foreign Service Specialist Rachael Moore's personal crusade puts her in the crosshairs of very dangerous people. She would risk everything to achieve her goal even if it means exposing her battered heart and deeply concealed dreams to a man who doesn’t know the meaning of love.
Unbeknownst to both, their reconnection may not only bridge the chasm between the two of them, but shed light on a puzzling mystery. Their perilous journey becomes a race for their lives, leading them into a conspiracy rooted deeper than the tangled emotions between them.
Will their collaboration shatter the tenuous link woven in the past or forge a bond they never expected could exist in the future?
Nathan shook his head and pulled out the first folder containing the personal file of Gerald Blair, U.S. Envoy to the Middle East. The report was thorough and contained a detailed account of both his professional and personal life. He raised his eyes to Hanson. “Do you want to split’em?”

“Nope. I’m done with them. They are all yours.”

“While I waited for the fax. I’m a fast read, Nelson. Keep that in mind.” Hanson’s lips quirked in a cocky grin as he leaned his seat back and closed his eyes. His disheveled appearance and the hickeys decorating his neck a clear indication he needed some shut-eye. “Let me know when you’re done so we can discuss the details.”

Nathan sank in his own seat, his mind teeming with questions. Questions he didn’t think he would have answers to any time soon. He had a long analysis ahead of him considering he was also looking for pieces of a puzzle unknown to Hanson. Unlike Hanson’s, Nathan’s focus also encompassed the files belonging to the two agents and two drivers who’d been killed in the attack.

With that in mind, he returned his attention to the folder and began studying the first of the people they were supposed to know inside and out before they set off for ground zero. As he read through the pages, he looked for inconsistencies, hidden information, or activities that could have made Blair a target. Anything that could have put them all in the crosshairs of whoever had taken them.

The situation was more complex than the usual hostage kidnapping. While religious extremists were quick to claim responsibility, those who’d abducted the six remaining members of the diplomatic convoy two days earlier hadn’t made any demands through the media. They’d simply dropped off the radar as if they’d never been.

There had to be a reason for that divergence from the usual and that reason could very well be tied to Nathan’s prime directive. The answer could be in any of their past or present and, if he was to be successful, he had to find it.

He beat his way through Gerald Blair’s file and took notes as he moved through. Blair had been in extensive contact with Palestinians and Israelis—unavoidable contact since it was an integral part of his job to mediate peace in the region—and that in itself could have placed a target on his back.

Nathan set Blair’s file aside and moved on to the next in the bundle. As he flipped it open, his whole body stiffened in his seat. A buzzing noise flooded his ears, and his sight dimmed. His field of vision narrowed to the picture on the page and the name listed—Moore, Rachael. Status: Widow. Rae.

His blood iced in his veins. For a moment, he felt detached from reality expecting someone to pop up in the seat in front of him pointing a camera and screaming, “Gotcha!” He fixed his eyes on the file again. Phillip Moore’s wife. Was that why Hanson had made that comment about setting personal involvements aside? Nathan stared at her familiar image for a moment before diving in. Some of the information in it was known to him. Some was brand new. He read the declassified report on Phillip’s death with a heavy heart and the thumping in his chest rose to such a loud racket he thought it would wake Hanson from his beauty sleep.

The more he read about Rachael, the more his frown deepened. Why was she working at the embassy in Israel? How had she come to be assigned as a personal assistant to Blair?

Phillip had been crazy about her, and Nathan understood why as soon as he’d met her. At the time they met, she’d been working on a business associate degree with some difficulty due to the sudden transfer to the US. Neither had mentioned she dabbed in international politics back then. Had she made a career change after Phillip’s death? Guilt punched him in the gut and he held his breath, squeezing his eyes shut to keep self-flagellation at bay.

He’d gone through that cycle many times before. He wasn’t about to slide down that road again. If that was how he could redeem himself, he was going to take it.

Blurb Tour: The Keepers: Archer by Rae Rivers Release Day Blast: Wandering by Heather Sutherlin

  • Blurb Tour: The Keepers: Archer by Rae Rivers
  •  Release Day Blast: Wandering by Heather Sutherlin

Today we are excited to host a blurb tour for The Keepers: Archer by Rae Rivers!!!!

Blurb: Lose yourself in the world of The Keepers, an exciting new Paranormal Romance trilogy from Rae Rivers.

“Don’t ever look for me again, Archer.”
His mouth curled into a smile. “Game on.”

Central Park. Sienna Beckham is out jogging in the autumn sun, feeling almost ordinary. Trouble is, she'll never be. She's on the run from her life as a powerful witch and the three Keepers blood-bound to protect her.

Evil is hot on Sienna's tail and Archer Bennett is searching for her, desperate to find her before they do. As one of her Keepers, he will fight to his death to defend her.

Sienna must return and defend her hometown, Rapid Falls – but she has to face the past and master her powers. And as forbidden feelings blossom between Sienna and Archer, will their love survive the ultimate war?

The Keepers: three strong and handsome warrior brothers, born to protect.

Sienna put a hand on Archer’s arm. “I’m going to find Warrick and get him to talk to me so we can go home.”

Archer responded by sliding both hands behind her lower back and pulling her tighter against him so that her body was flush against his. She gasped at the sudden close contact and the intensity of his grip on her and tried to pull back to see his expression.

“Just a minute more,” he whispered in her ear, keeping her in place as they swayed to the music. Her body shivered in response, his breathy words scattering her thoughts in an instant.

“Careful, Archer, any closer and people will start thinking I’m your woman.”

 “You are my woman.”

She’d meant to tease him, to ease the sudden possessive grip he had on her, but when his mouth edged towards hers, the gentle scrape of his lips against her skin and his whispered words ripped a soft shudder through her.

“Not yet. In time, you will be.”

She smiled against him. “Confident tonight, are you?”

“I call it like I see it.” His fingers toyed with the seam of her dress at her lower back, and his lips hovered dangerously close to hers.

“You know we can’t.”

“I’m not in the mood to please The Circle right now and besides, some of the best things in life are the things that are forbidden.”

“What are we, Adam and Eve?”

His face softened in a breathtaking grin and in a gentle movement, he released her, twirled her around, and drew her back to cradle her in a possessive hold that enthralled rather than annoyed her.

She longed to throw caution to the wind and kiss him, take what he offered, and lose herself in this gorgeous man. Screw the consequences.

Instead, she opted for the safe route. “Stop it, Archer.”

“Scared to admit the truth?”

“Liar,” he breathed against her lips before pulling back. She blinked, trying to ignore the flash of desire that raced through her body and pretend her senses hadn’t just been overrun by pure male sexiness.

“I should go,” she said, needing some distance between them.

After all, she was here for a reason and it wasn’t to spend the night in Archer’s arms – on the dance floor or otherwise. The silent motion of his head agreed with her, but she could see that he was worried.

She didn’t blame him. Beneath her cool façade, even she was worried.

But she had a plan. One she wouldn’t share with her Keepers just yet.

And she hoped to hell it worked.
