I'm Scarlett Ryan.

Yes, THAT Scarlett Ryan.

I live an extraordinary life: millionaire rock star, owner of exotic cars, pictures of me in every magazine, millions of fans, and a name that is recognized world wide. It's supposed to be my dream come true. But, my life IS a fantasy, and I want real. I want exciting. I want... NORMAL. So, I moved from California to Florida, hoping to obtain some normalcy. Instead I find...

Stephan Montgomery.

He's an arrogant jerk. Seriously, I hate him. I swear if he tells me one more blonde joke, I will punch him... again... Unfortunately  I can't stop thinking about him, or his gorgeous green eyes. Trust me, I know that he's bad for me. If only my heart would listen.

I also find out that my parents have kept a LIFE CHANGING secret from me. I need to know the truth.

The harder I strive for normal, the stranger things seem to get.

Excerpt:
“What do you do if you have a wedgie?”Mona's question is so serious that I can't help but laugh. She too joins in. “I wear a lot of thongs,” I finally answer. “But I suppose I would just go to the bathroom. I mean, what do you do when you have a wedgie? ”She smiles, sheepishly. “I have my friends stand around me, and I pick it. ”I start laughing hard again. Seriously, even though Mona is a complete bitch, she's kind of awesome. I can see why she has so many friends.

My Review:

I loved this quick read, fast paced, love/rock star story! The Rock Stars Series is a must read for fans of the rock romance genre and the twist is the rock star is a woman!!

Scarlett Ryan has been a rock star since the age of 14.She wasn't allowed to have a childhood, her parents stayed in a unhealthy no love marriage for money, and the only person she felt ever really loved her was her older sister who ran away when Scarlett was 10. She feels like she has a piece missing from her life and she decides to finish her senior year of high school in public school.

Scarlett has many life changing events in this first book of the series... she is searching for her older sister Stacy, she meets a boy that she can't keep her eyes or mind off of but isn't wanting to think about love, and she discovers a HUGE secret that her parents hid from her all of her life!

I give Jaded 3.9 stars on the knock my socks off scale. I more than liked this book I wish the pacing would have been a little slower, but I LOVED that the words flew by and the story got so far and deep. Kudos to Mercy Amare for writing a series hat I cannot wait for book 2!!!

Faded.... BOOK 2!!!!

**Faded is releasing on June 6**
Blurb:
I left Hope – the only place I’ve ever felt at home. So now what? Where do I go from here?

When I left, I didn’t just leave my home. I left my friends, my sisters, and Stephan… I just found them. I can’t lose them now.

I know that I want to do MY music. I need to remember WHY I wanted to play music in the first place. And the only way to get that is by firing my dad, but that may be harder than I thought.

On top of everything, I now have cameras following me around everywhere. Even my own home isn’t safe anymore.

I’ve come to realize that normal will never be an option for me.

My Review:

Faded picks up right where Jaded left off. Scarlett has left her hideaway in Florida and has discovered she will never have a "normal" life. She is heartbroken over leaving, but has convinced herself that she doesn't want her fame to ruin the ones she loves the most. Scarlett is about to make some big changes in her life and she is going to need the support of the ones she loves.

Scarlett is convinced to return to Hope, Florida when she realizes that she cannot live without the ones she left behind. She has also made a big decision to start making her own music, and not the bubblegum pop her record company has been forcing her to do. Which will require her to fire her own father as her manager. On top of that her best friend and fellow rock star, Alec Torch, has convinced her to record a documentary and she has cameras literally everywhere!! How does a 19 year old juggle high school, a massive blow up with both of her parents, venturing out on her own in her music career, and falling in love??

I give Faded 5 stars on the knock my socks off scale. I thought that Mercy Amare did a fantabulous job at picking up where book 1 left off and adding so many events without rushing through the story. I felt my connection to the characters deepen and fell even more in love with Scarlett and Stephan, but also the entire cast... minus Mona. LOL

We asked Mercy what were 5 things that inspired her. Check out her answers!

LIFE. I am most inspired by people and things around me. In Faded, Scarlett spends some time in the studio, and that came from my own personal experience. When I was 14-18 I worked at a studio, and got paid to play music. (Guitar, bass, drums, back-up vocals, etc)… So I took my experience from that, and used it. I’ve wanted to write about a girl rock star for a long time, and I’m glad I finally did!

MUSIC. For me, music is a big part of my writing process. It affects the mood of me, and my characters. If I’m writing a happy scene, I’m usually listening to happy music, like One Direction, or Maroon 5. A sad scene will be Adele and Celine Dion. An angry screen will be Flyleaf… And so on.

SLEEP. I know, this sounds weird… But that moment when you’re almost asleep is normally when I have the most brilliant ideas. And then I fight with my half-conscience self, deciding rather I want to get up and write it down or not! Inspiration always wins.

ENTERTAINMENT. When I feel stuck on a scene, sometimes I will watch TV, read a book, or go somewhere and walk around. I won’t think about my book, but normally in the middle of the show, or while I’m half way through the park, inspirations hits. I think sometimes I just need to clear my head.

CAFFEINE. I don’t know how I would write without caffeine. NOS Energy Drink to be specific…
